What are your priorities and immediate next steps for your wellness or teaching business? Do they include this?
If you want to connect with colleagues for a free meetup to discuss vision with like-minds, let me know.
I chose this picture for a few reasons. Everything in life ultimately comes down to our relationship to our Self and the cosmos or God, and as such, at its heart, our life and work is an individual pursuit. And yet, virtually no one is satisfied by “knowing” anything, no matter how deep. Integration of knowing and healing virtually guarantees an insatiable desire to serve. If you’re in that phase where you’ve come down from the rock that this individual is standing on and turned back toward others to do the next phase of your service, then I wonder what else you’re thinking and if connection resonates for you.
Dear friends and colleagues,
I’ve been an independent provider and/or business owner for 25 years. Man, have things changed in that time. There’s no sense in rehashing it all; it’s simply a fact that this world is always requiring us to take stock of the current situation — external and internal — and take mindful action.
The actions we take are either:
Responding to a time-sensitive requirement, or
Building toward something we’re creating.
In terms of the latter, what are your priorities? In this hairy, chaotic time of massive change, it seems that everything seems more risky than before. At the same time, it seems to be a “no other choice” time as well. While in the past, people could “ride two horses at once”, I think most now recognize that one of those horses has veered too far astray and can only lead to a dead end. As a result, many seem to be concluding that they must choose to commit to what is most aligned to their inner knowing and calling.
It’s not an easy time.
I’ve completed a few big projects (those #2s I mention above) and I’m immersed in a few more that aren’t ready to unveil. But I’m wondering if there’s something more that I can do, and we can do, to support each other.
Shall we connect?
I wonder if you think it would be beneficial for those interested to connect and chat about what we’re seeing and doing? Some may also wish to note the type of people they’re interested in connecting or collaborating with. I’m not talking about those old-style “networking” events. I recognize that people have good reasons for such an approach, and I don’t mean to imply this is what they were doing, but just to be clear, I’ve personally never resonated with anything that sounds like we’re kind of using each other.
I’m talking about sharing our vision for how things are changing and about the place in that vision that we’re each focused on, and about how we think our work relates to other pieces. And I’m talking about listening — the opportunity to hear what’s working and not working, how people are focusing their energy, and what they’re seeing in their circles and clients.
If only a few are interested, we could jump on a zoom call or something. If there’s a greater interest, we could divide ourselves up by, for example, medical providers, coaches, and yoga teachers/trainers.
On a side note, one of my projects is an Integrated Yoga training that yoga teachers can conduct to empower professionals in other fields to integrate yoga with their existing modalities. I know a number of providers already do just that, and so when I suggest we could focus conversations based on people’s different roles, I do that for its inherent value while also recognizing that most people who are effective carry many titles and skills and that distinguishing in such ways will likely have less and less import in the future as we focus more on the types of problems we solve using a plethora of tools and techniques rather than identifying with a modality.
Sincerely,
Shelly Thorn
