Turning away from the failed system of symptom suppression and focusing instead on identifying and addressing root causes of illness.
Seeking wellness is not a task of finding the one right answer but instead is a process of discovery and experimentation. These tools are tremendously helpful.
Choosing the “Right” Healing Technique?
After spending 30 years immersed in natural healing, 25 years in spiritual work, and 20 years focused on yoga teaching and yoga therapy considerations, I’ve learned that there are many effective teachings, tools, and therapies that can improve our quality of life beyond measure. In fact, I’ve dedicated my life to helping increase knowledge and access to supportive resources.
But I’ve also learned that there are no perfect tools or hard-and-fast rules for choosing the optimum technique for any situation.
A healthy lifestyle certainly prevents and addresses many causes of illness and therefore it’s reasonable to “expect” good health in return. When, instead, illness befalls us, we have a choice in how we see that. Typically, no matter how advanced a person is in their knowledge and application of health and wellness principles, their body-mind-soul will usually teach them more over time through injury and illness, both physical and mental. I don’t believe that illness and injury indicate that a person has done anything “wrong” but rather that they’re being strongly invited into some personal work. I say “strongly” since illness and injury will at some point take precedence over other concerns.
Addressing the Root Causes of Illness
While I don’t purport to have the “right” perspective, I do have one that is evidence-based and suppressed in many circles. As a result, I’m compelled to increase awareness of the prevalence and impact of toxins including pharmaceuticals and vaccines (among other issues such as nutrient deficiency, chronic stress, and unhealed trauma) that contribute to the development of more than 50 classes of illness.
I’m passionate about exposing the failed system of symptom suppression and restoring our focus on identifying and addressing root causes of illness.
Being Curious, Open-Minded, and Willing to Experiment
But here’s the kicker. Even with knowledge of root causes, each person’s situation is unique and thus, there’s no one “right way” to address the situation at hand. Every person is experiencing a life that no one else has lived in the exact same way. There are variations in pre-birth conditions and ancestral lineage, in the in-utero experience, in one’s physical constitution, mental tendencies, in the types and ages at which we had traumatic experiences, and in the endless environmental (epigenetic) inputs: from nutrition to air quality, stress levels to sleep patterns, emotional processing to daily movement patterns, and on and on and on.
And so, naturally, there’s significant variation in what is effective for each person, in their particular stage in life, and with the particular situation they face.
As a result, most people have experienced frustration stemming from health advice that worked for others but not for them, or that caused confusion or distraction. And there are many significant psychological and emotional challenges that come along with the physical ones when experiencing illness or injury.
I’m an avid health and wellness researcher and I love scouring findings and recommendations, but I’ve come to know without a doubt that seeking wellness is not a task of finding the one right answer but instead is a process of discovery and experimentation.
In that process, we encounter personal tendencies that hinder our efforts to be healthy and well.
We may need to give up on a quick-fix mentality and be more willing to patiently dig in.
We may find ourselves no longer able to believe there’s for-sure-there’s-one-right-answer approach and instead become more willing to experiment.
We may need to reclaim responsibility that we previously outsourced to “experts.”
We may find a need for more surrender, more inner-listening, more open-mindedness.
We may conclude that what seemed to be a physical problem is, in reality, dependent on our stress levels and entire state of being: mind, body and soul.
If I could share only one thing I’ve learned it would be to encourage curiosity and willingness to experiment.
Focusing Wisely
So while effective therapies will vary by person, a wise place to start is identifying potential root causes for the situation at hand.
This Root Cause Index will help you do just that. The content there is 100% evidence-based, with every statement accompanied by research citations.
Often, this will point to obvious actions to consider such as reducing toxic exposure, detoxing elevated levels of heavy metals, or employing daily movement and stress-relief, for example,
The following are freely available excerpts from the Root Cause Index so that you can see how comprehensive the lists are, and how every claim is accompanied by easily accessible research.
Cardiovascular Conditions — Cardiovascular Disease, Atherosclerosis, Vasculitis, Heart Inflammation, Heart Problems, Blood Clots (Thrombosis, Pulmonary Embolism), Heart Attack, Stroke
Cancer — Cancer, Plasma Cell Neoplasm (Tumor)
Once you’re armed with that information, there are many options and considerations, and we have extensive tools to help you choose wise responses. Let me know if there’s anything else you need. Feedback has been the source of inspiration for many of our services.
I am wishing you and your clients the curiosity, patience, and perseverance needed to experience the wellness you seek.
