Yoga Teacher Central is proud to be the first organization to introduce a definitive set of professional Knowledge Standards, backed by a structured, multi-lineage curriculum. While the industry standard requires little more than passive financial investment and classroom hours, our Recognized Teachers must prove their competency. By passing a rigorous, independent examination — a credentialing standard unmatched by ordinary training programs — they demonstrate verified mastery. They don’t just meet industry requirements; they proactively redefine them to elevate the integrity of the entire profession.

Stakes: Low-risk. Results do not count toward your Recognized Teacher status, and there are no prerequisites to take it

Recognized Teacher Exam

Requirements: A passing score of 75% is required. You are permitted up to three attempts to pass.

What to Expect on Both Tests
No matter which test you take, our goal is to support your ongoing professional development. Both platforms feature:
Immediate Feedback: You will find out instantly if your answer is correct after every single question.
Deep-Dive Teachings: Each question includes an in-depth explanation featuring insightful teachings, supporting references, and direct links to the relevant curriculum lessons.
Targeted Review: At the end of your session, the platform will re-display the detailed teachings for any questions you answered incorrectly so you can easily brush up on the concepts you had trouble with.
Registration & Logistics
A few details before you begin:
Simple Payment Options: Payments are processed securely via PayPal, but a PayPal account is not required. You can easily check out as a guest using any major credit card without logging in.
Instant Setup: Immediately after payment, you will be prompted to enter your name and create a password to access your test.
The Exam Timer: Please note that your countdown timer begins the moment you access the test screen.
Device Compatibility: While the platform is accessible everywhere, we recommend using a laptop or desktop computer.
Receipts: A receipt will be available for your records as soon as you complete the test.

Requirements & Path to Enrollment
To unlock lifetime recognition, there is a one-time processing fee of $35, alongside one of the following two educational pathways:
Pathway 1 (Authorized Graduate): Completion of a teacher training program with a Yoga Teacher Central Authorized Trainer.
Pathway 2 (Independent Professional): Existing teaching credentials from another school, a Yoga Teacher Central teacher membership of any length (current or expired), and a passing grade on the Recognized Teacher Exam.

Upon enrollment ($35), you will immediately receive:
A Knowledge Standards Study Guide to help you focus your preparation.
A 10-day full-access pass to all online study and learning resources.
5 download library credits to redeem for lifetime access to the teaching or study materials of your choice
Step-by-Step Pathway to Recognition
If you trained with an Authorized Trainer:
We will verify your graduation with your trainer.
Upon verification, you will be immediately added to our professional directory.
If you trained elsewhere:
Verification: We will verify your external teaching credentials and your Yoga Teacher Central membership (if you don’t have one yet, we will invite you to join at this stage).
Study Period: Upon payment of the $35 enrollment fee, you will receive your study guide and 10-day platform access.
Testing: You can take the optional practice exam ($10) to test your readiness, then take the official knowledge exam ($15) when you feel prepared.
Activation: Once you pass the exam, you will be officially added to the directory.

Informing Your Teachers
We would like to ensure your trainees know they have this preferential treatment. (No exam required. Everyone else will be required to pass a 100-question exam.)
