Christian observance
Holy Week is an annual Christian observance marking the final week of Lent and commemorating the last days of Jesus’ life, including events such as the Last Supper and Good Friday, leading up to his resurrection on Easter Sunday.
Apr 1-9: Passover
Jewish observance
Passover is a Jewish holiday commemorating the Bible narrative of Exodus in which ancient Israelites were freed from slavery in Egypt. On the first two nights of Passover (only the first night in Israel), there is a traditional Passover meal called the Seder.
April 2: Hanuman Jayanti
Hindu festival
Hanuman Jayanti is a Hindu festival honoring Lord Hanuman, revered for his strength, wisdom, and selfless devotion, as illustrated in the Ramayana. He is known for his mastery of sacred knowledge, including the Vedas, and is regarded as both powerful and deeply wise. Celebrated as a protector who helps overcome adversity, Hanuman is honored on this auspicious day through prayers and the seeking of his blessings for courage, protection, and resilience.
April 5: Qingming Festival
Chinese festival
The Qingming Festival, also known as Tomb Sweeping Day, is an important occasion for many Chinese people. On this day, families sweep tombs and honor their ancestors. The name “Qingming” — meaning “clearness” or “brightness” — originally referred to the season, as early April brings warmer, brighter days. The festival as observed today is a combination of two earlier observances: Qingming and the Cold Food Festival, which occurred the day before and involved eating only cold food without using fire.

Honor for the Earth as a living system
Earth Day invites appreciation and honor of the Earth as a living system, fostering awareness, care, and a sense of interconnectedness with all life.
April 23: St. George’s Day
English celebration
St. George’s Day honors Saint George, the patron saint of England. George was a Roman soldier in the 3rd century, famous for his courage, Christian faith, and legendary battle with a dragon. The day is meant to celebrate English heritage and virtues such as bravery, honor, and chivalry. In some regions, it’s also linked to charitable acts and religious observances. Traditionally, people celebrate with parades, flying the St. George’s Cross (a red cross on a white background), and local events showcasing English culture.
