Dealing with Poisons
A Severe Betrayal: Man-Made Poisons — The desire of industry decision-makers to produce toxic (poisonous) chemicals—that they can profit from—has proven insatiable. The EPA has documented more than 80,000 poisons.
Oxidative Stress & Detoxification (you’re here) — Oxidative stress refers to a serious imbalance at the cellular level that is at the root of health issues. Detoxification is one of many natural processes of the human body and is conducted through various organs. The ability to effectively expel waste and toxins through multiple elimination pathways is crucial for optimizing health.
Pesticides, Glyphosate — Includes atrazine, CFS, DDT, fungicides. Harms: increased cancers, tumors, stillbirth, autism, brain damage, respiratory issues, liver disease, IBD, microbiome disruption, biodiversity loss, and damage to honeybees.
EDCs & Microplastics — Includes BPA, dioxins, parabens, PCBs, PE, PFAS, phenols, phthalates. Harms include ADHD, autism, cancer, cardiovascular diseases, children’s IQ decline, demasculinizing, diabetes, fertility issues, pregnancy complications, thyroid dysfunction, weight gain.
Fluoride — Fluoride is a neurotoxin, meaning it is a poisonous substance that disrupts the functioning of the nervous system. Harms include lower IQ in children, cancer, and osteoporosis.
Heavy Metals — Includes aluminum, antimony, arsenic, cadmium, chromium, copper, lead, mercury, nickel. Harms include cellular damage, bone diseases, Alzheimer’s, autism, liver and kidney damage, cancer, heart disease, heart failure, stroke, death.
Synthetic Food Additives — Includes emulsifiers, carrageenan, food dyes, artificial sweeteners, preservatives. Harms include tumors, asthma, neurological damage, ADHD, anxiety, and depression.
Air Pollution, VOCs & Other Toxins — Includes formaldehyde, GenX chemicals, PAHs, particle pollution, radon, TCDF, vinyl chloride, VOCs, TCE.
It’s an Ultra-Significant Fact that Toxins are Provably Harmful to our Immune System & Cellular Functioning
By definition, toxins are poisonous substances. From a big picture perspective, please note that:
Our health and wellness require that our immune system is functioning effectively. — Our magical, powerful immune system is key to our health. It “works to protect us every day, and we don’t even notice it.” [source] There is “a clear association” between a compromised immune system and the incidence of disease. [source]
Chronic exposure to toxins overburdens the immune system. — By definition, toxins are poisonous to living systems. Due to the tens of thousands of toxic chemicals now circulating on planet Earth, it doesn’t take research to logically deduce that the immune system can become overburdened. But there is also extensive scientific research demonstrating how many chemicals are in foods, consumer products and the human body, and how they negatively impact human health. (Research summaries here.)
Toxins have serious effects on the body’s cellular functioning. — As a result of hundreds of research papers, we know how toxins harm the human body and the earth. We even know how they affect the body’s cellular processes (the foundational physical activities within the body). What scientists can see in a microscope, we know of as symptoms of immune issues and disease.
During normal, healthy cellular activity, mitochondria (the site of energy production in cells) create a by-product called oxidative stress.
Oxidative stress is kept in balance by natural anti-oxidants in the cells.
When oxidative stress is excessive and the natural antioxidants can’t keep up, oxidative stress can cause cellular damage, experienced as a decrease in energy and overall function. [source]
Damage at the cellular level can then lead to impacts on gene activation (epigenetics). — As a result of excess oxidative stress, DNA methylation can then happen. This is an example of epigenetics, referring to lifestyle and environmental factors that cause genes to turn on or off, thereby leading to disease. [source]
These Common Toxins Cause Harm
Toxins that many people regularly encounter include heavy metals, pesticides (particularly glyphosate), microplastics, endocrine disruptors and fluoride, among others.
The following examples of those toxins are directly linked to long lists of severe harm. But here we simply list them by name and note their common uses.
Pesticides, Herbicides, Glyphosate — Glyphosate is the most widely produced chemical in the world. It’s used in herbicides and over 700 products including Roundup. [source and source and source and source and source]
BPA (bisphenol A) — Industrial chemical used in the manufacture of plastics. BPA is an endocrine disrupting chemical [source] used in many consumer goods [source].
PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances) — The name of a category of industrial chemical that includes “thousands of chemicals.” [source] “Known as ‘forever chemicals’ because of their persistence in the environment and ability to bioaccumulate in people and wildlife…” [source]. PFAS are used in food packaging and they leach into food. [source and source and source and source]
Phthalates — Phthalates are used, among other purposes, to make plastic flexible and are found widely in consumer products such as cosmetics, tupperware, detergents, and food packaging. They migrate from plastic into food and beverages and are then ingested, weakening the immune system. [source and source and source]
Artificial Food Additives (preservatives, flavorings, color, artificial sweeteners) — Hundreds of toxic chemicals are added to foods including annatto, artificial colors (red 40, blue 1, yellow 5, etc), artificial sweeteners, aspartame, benzene, BHA, BHT, brominated vegetable oil, caramel coloring, corn syrup, ethanol, guar gum, heavy metals, high fructose corn syrup, hydrolyzed vegetable protein, modified food starch, monosodium glutamate, potassium bromate, propyl paraben, propylene glycol alginate, saccharin, sodium benzoate, sodium nitrate, sodium nitrite, sodium phosphate, sucralose, sulfites, TBHQ, and titanium dioxide. [source and source and source and source and source]
Heavy Metals — Heavy metals include mercury, lead, aluminum, cadmium, and arsenic. There’s lead in tap water, tampons, and applesauce; aluminum in vaccines; gadolinium in MRI contrast agents; copper and mercury in fungicides; and titanium in cosmetics, among dozens of uses in consumer products. [source]
Fluoride — “After a court order, the NTP report was released, showing that out of 55 studies included, 52 found that increased fluoride exposure was associated with decreases in child IQ.” [source] “Fluoride is a highly toxic substance. Consider, for example, the poison warning that the FDA now requires on all fluoride toothpastes sold in the U.S. or the tens of millions of people throughout China and India who now suffer serious crippling bone diseases from drinking water with elevated levels of fluoride… Fluoride has long been used in rodenticides and pesticides to kill pests like rats and insects.” [source]
Mold and Mycotoxins — “Mycotoxins are extremely small compounds produced by the molds… these mycotoxins are extremely toxic and can cause a wide range of health problems including weakened immunity… Mycotoxins are considered carcinogenic and potentially deadly.” [source]
mRNA Technology — “The technology used in Moderna’s Covid-19 vaccine carries toxicity risks, scientists with the company said… The toxicity risks include ‘lipid nanoparticle structural components, production methods, route of administration and proteins produced from complexed mRNAs,’ the [Moderna employees] wrote.” [source]
Parasites — “Parasites produce waste and byproducts that can be toxic to the host. They can also act as a collector of toxins through what they eat.” [source]
Researchers Tested 50 Common Consumer Products; There Were So Many Different Chemicals Detected That They Couldn’t Identify Most of Them
Researchers selected 50 common consumer products to test, including plastic bags, rubber gloves, car tire granules, children’s toys and balloons… There were so many different chemicals detected that only a small percentage showed up in multiple products — and the vast majority couldn’t be identified at all. In fact, out of all the products tested, only 26% of the chemical features could be identified [i.e. they were listed in established substance indexes], highlighting how little is known about the toxicity of everyday products. Out of all the chemicals detected, those added to natural rubber and used in dishwashing gloves were the worst. Household products contain a striking number of chemicals; one rubber car tire contained 2,456 chemical features, and there was a median of 386 across all the products tested.
How Toxins Get in Your Body
Toxins may enter the body from:
Drinking tap water (containing “forever chemicals,” arsenic, lead, aluminum, nitrates, pharmaceutical drugs, fluoride). [source and source and source and source]
Eating “conventionally-grown” (non-organic) food from soils treated with pesticides and herbicides such as glyphosate [source and source and source and source and source] Drinking grape juice or wine made from conventionally grown grapes, which are often treated with fluoride, pesticide and cryolite. [source]
Consuming foods and drinks from packaging made with BPA and eating processed foods (containing additives such as synthetic preservatives, artificial flavors, artificial colors, hydrogenated oils, hormones, antibiotics). [source and source and source and source and source]
Using nonstick cookware that contains chemicals such as PFOA and PTFE. [source and source and source]
Using fluoridated toothpaste or getting fluoride treatments at the dentist. [source and source and source and source and source]
Using cleaning and personal care products with toxins and carcinogens. [source and source and source]
Breathing air that is polluted by cigarette smoke, exhaust or other pollutants. [source and source]
Taking antibiotic and immunosuppressive drugs that damage and destroy good gut bacteria, creating dysbiosis (gut imbalance), which suppresses the immune system and creates an environment for parasites to proliferate in. [source] Taking drugs that contain fluoride such as many antidepressants and statins. [source]
Being chronically exposed to mold. [source]
Being chronically exposed to heavy metals in, for example, painting, industrial agriculture, dental work or auto repair. [source]
How Detoxification Works
Detoxification (also called detoxing) is the process of removing toxins from the body. It is one of many natural processes of the human body.
The lymphatic system is a physiological system directly involved in detoxing.
Other organs and systems that are very involved in detoxification include the liver, kidneys, skin, respiratory system and digestive system. [source]
The two primary ways to support the body’s detoxification are to:
Reduce exposure to toxins.
Aid the body in its detoxifying efforts.
Elimination is Key
Processes of elimination include respiration, urination, defecation, and perspiration. Due to the amount of toxins in our 21st century society, health is absolutely dependent upon optimal eliminatory channels.
Fever & Acute Inflammation are Preparatory Actions for Eliminating Toxins
Our cells and tissues are meant to contain perfect crystalline gels. If a toxin becomes dissolved into the gels, the body attempts to rid itself of this toxin. The way the body does this is to elevate the temperature (we call this a fever), which partially liquifies the gels so that the toxins can be flushed out in mucus, after which we feel better, meaning we reconstitute our perfect gels once again. Fever and inflammation is simply a detoxification process, not a disease that needs to be suppressed.
